STUDENT AWARDS:  MaHIMA OFFERS TWO STUDENT AWARDS ANNUALLY

  • STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
  • RISING STAR AWARD













STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD:  Recognizes a HIT or HIM student for their academic achievements, demonstrated leadership, and high ethical and moral values.

CRITERIA:
Academic:

  • Must be within the top of their class with GPA at the choice of the college program director and faculty 
  • Must have thorough and timely completion of all work needed to pass each course
  • No disciplinary actions
  • Attendance-no excessive tardiness
  • Student must be in their 2nd year in Associates approved HIM program or in their 4th year in Bachelors approved HIM program

  • Communicative

School Eligibility:

  • Students from an accredited, CAHIIM-approved Health Information Technology (HIT) or Health Information Management (HIM) program
  • The award nominee is submitted by the Program Director at each of the accredited HIT or HIM schools
  • One (1) Student Achievement Award, across all accredited HIT or HIM schools, will be selected by the MaHIMA Board
  • Student must be a member of the Massachusetts CA (MaHIMA)

 Award Presentation:

  • The Student Achievement Award will be presented during the MaHIMA Annual Meeting

 Winner receives:

  • Certificate of Achievement
  • One year AHIMA membership (must select Massachusetts as CSA)
  • Free full day registration for MaHIMA’s Annual Conference in addition to Fall and Winter Meetings virtual sessions
  • Designated allotment of complimentary MaHIMA webinars for individual use and, registration following the year of the award

RISING STAR AWARD

Rising Star Award - The Rising Star should have a passion for healthcare, be an ambassador for change, have a basic understanding of the ever-changing industry, be a team player and should be willing to learn and share knowledge.

Academic:

  • Must be within the top of their class with GPA at the choice of the college program director and faculty 
  • Must have thorough and timely completion of all work needed to pass each course
  • No disciplinary actions
  • Attendance-no excessive tardiness
  • Student must be in their 1st year in Associates approved HIM program or in their 2nd or 3rd year in Bachelors approved HIM program

School Eligibility:
