Alan Goldberg, President & CEO, Applied Management Systems
Mr. Goldberg has 30+ years of health care management and management engineering experience, and brings the following attributes to the AMS health care consulting practice:
Mr. Goldberg’s current affiliations include the Association of Healthcare Enterprises (AHE) where he is the past chairman and current member of the Board of Directors; for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), he is a life member, fellow, and past elected national president and chairman of the Board of Directors. In 2011, he was also elected one of HIMSS 50 unforgettable contributors to the first 50 years of the society. For the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), he is a fellow, and has attained the status of Board-Certified Health Care Executive. Also, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts chapter and is past president.
In 2011 and 2010, Mr. Goldberg published four articles in the Journal of Healthcare Management including Managing in a Financial Downturn and Cost Management/Cost Containment Strategies. He also gave five major presentations since then including a keynote address to the Colorado Hospital Association, and presentations to the West Virginia Small and Rural Hospital Association and to ACHE. Alan has received one of the highest awards of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Massachusetts Regent’s Award as Healthcare Executive of the Year.
In his past, Mr. Goldberg served as an editor and co-editor of the three editions of Hospital Departmental Profiles, published by American Hospital Association Publishing. These books sold over 30,000 copies. He has received a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the American Hospital Association.
A board member and President of the company since 1985 and a Principal since 1997. Concentration in the corporate responsibilities of business development, administration, and financial management.
Specialty areas include mergers and consolidations, corporate restructuring, organizational change, productivity, physician issues, and strategic planning.
