MaHIMA Webinar - 2022 Updated Guideline for Critical Care Service

This session will occur on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 12pm to 1pm EST.  The presentation handouts will be distributed before the session in advance and the CEU will be distributed after the session. 

Summary:
For 2022, Medicare updated the guideline for critical care service. The update is that critical care can now be billed as a Split (or shared) visit. This is to better reflect the current practice of medicine and the evolving role of non-physician practitioners (NPPs) as members of the medical team.

Documentation requirements for critical care service
When Critical care can be billed as a Split (or shared) visit.

Presenter:
Oby Egbunike, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CRC, CPC-I

Oby is the Director of Professional Coding and Education at BethIsreal Lahey Health Care System where she is responsible for the daily management of coding both outpatient and inpatient services as well as hospital based diagnostic testing.
Oby is a frequent contributor to American Academy of professional Coders’ business of health care publication. She has presented numerous educational seminars for American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and American Academy of professional Coders (AAPC). She is a member of Massachusetts Health Information Management Association Education Committee. She is also a licensed instructor with AAPC where she prepares students for Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential.
