Ashlee Purcell, RHIT

Winner of 2018 MaHIMA Outstanding New Professional Award

Ashlee Purcell was nominated for the MaHIMA Outstanding New Professional Award by her Director, Bibi VonMalder.  The following comments were adapted from the nomination:

Ashlee received her RHIT this year.  I became Ashlee’s director a year ago as she was finishing school and preparing to sit for her RHIT credentials.  From the first day I met Ashlee I could see her ambition and dedication to the HIM profession.

Ashlee is very knowledgeable in every area of the HIM department.  Ashlee helped me get the department back to being efficient, there were many areas that needed attention and Ashlee was very excited to help me get the HIM department back on track.  She helped update all the policies and procedures in the department; she trained most of the staff how to use Meditech; she helped me with a forms project; she helped clean-up backlogs.

When Steward Corporate was looking for a few volunteers to help with a huge EMPI clean-up project Ashlee volunteered.  She took on the responsibilities with pride and ownership and did a tremendous job helping nine facilities with their EMPI.

Staff in our department looked up to Ashlee as a leader.  She has persistence; she wants to learn; and she wants to grow in her field.  Ashlee recently moved into a position in the IT department at Corporate as an Applications System Analyst working with the EMR for Athena.

I am so proud of Ashlee as she continues to grow in our profession.
