Job Description: Reporting to the Coding Supervisor, the inpatient Health Information Management Coder analyzes the content of patient medical records to identify diagnoses, procedures, complications and co-morbidities.  Assigns diagnostic and procedure codes according to Coding Clinic Official Coding Guidelines using the principals of ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding systems in an accurate and timely manner.  Abstracts data into hospital-wide database.  Assures appropriate reimbursement from third party payors within regulatory guidelines by utilizing grouper software and required classification systems.  Assigns ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 codes to mostly inpatient, but also outpatient records.  Requirements:  CCS, RHIT or RHIA certification and a minimum of one year inpatient hospital coding experience required.  Interested candidates should apply online at www.emersonhospital.org.
