Job Description: Under the direction of the Clinical Documentation Specialist, the Coding Validator performs quality reviews of records coded by the coding staff. Validates the ICD-9-CM/CPT codes, clinical documentation, DRG and APC assignment appropriateness to ensure compliance with the Official Coding Guidelines, regulatory requirements, quality reporting, and claims processing. Requirements: Minimum of 5 years coding experience with an in-depth knowledge of coding/classification systems, inpatient and outpatient prospective payment systems, coding review experience in ICD-9-CM and claims processing. Certification as a RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required.
