The Massachusetts Health Information Management Association (MaHIMA) is the leading nonprofit healthcare information organization in Massachusetts. We have over 1,650 active members who attend our educational workshops and seminars. Annual Educational Sessions

Fall Educational Meeting and Coding Workshop

Full day, two-track educational meeting for MaHIMA members and professional coders occurring in September. This meeting includes a state business meeting.

Western Mass General Meeting

Educational meeting occurring in Western Massachusetts yearly in October at Bay State Health. (baystate graphic)

Dot Wagg Memorial Legislative Seminar

This legislatively focused meeting offers continuing education units (ceu’s) to health information management professionals on topics such as HIPAA updates and Omnibus, topic breaches, health information exchange, meaningful use and how to respond to an audit. This meeting occurs in November.

Winter Educational Meeting and Coding Workshop

Full day, two-track educational meeting for MaHIMA members and professional coders occurs in January/February, which includes a state business meeting and awards for outstanding professionals in our industry.

ICD-10- Meeting

This full day program focuses on providing information to assist HIM and all healthcare professionals in preparing their departments and facilities for the move to ICD-10. This meeting occurs in the spring.

MaHIMA Annual Conference

Two full day educational session occurs in May with vendor exhibits including preconference educational sessions preceding the conference.

Hill Day & Legislative Seminar

In conjunction with NEHIMSS – Spring/Summer MaHIMA and NEHIMSS (New England Health Information and Management Systems Society) welcome its members to join us at the 10th Annual Beacon Hill Day for a day of networking and education with our state legislators. The event begins with a light breakfast and a Meet and Greet session in the Great Hall with legislators where we have the opportunity to educate them about our associations and our professions. This will be followed by educational sessions on current legislative topics affecting our professions. Both the MaHIMA Legislative Affairs Committee and the NEHIMSS Advocacy Committee will then prepare members to meet with their state senators and state representatives in the afternoon.

All educational sessions include a continental breakfast and lunch provided to attendees. MaHIMA members and non members earn CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) for the day.
