Announces a New Scholarship Award
MaHIMA announces a new scholarship designed to encourage
HIM professionals by helping to defray the cost of certification
examinations. Any member of Massachusetts HIMA who has taken
and passed one of the AHIMA sponsored certification programs
is eligible to apply. The certification exams include:
Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P)
Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHP)
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Information on the AHIMA certification programs can be found
at http://www.ahima.org/certification
The newly created scholarship will encourage our members
to pursue professional credentials. The Certification
Scholarship will provide partial funding for sixteen certification
tests per year (four per quarter). The $100 scholarships will
be awarded on a first-come-first-awarded basis. The Board
has approved donating funds from the 2007 silent auction to
the scholarship fund. Additionally, individual members and
corporate partners will be solicited to help fund additional
scholarships.
