Nominations Please for the MaHIMA Annual Awards 

Nominations are now being accepted for MaHIMA's 2008 Annual Awards. The association is truly honored to recognize our members for their outstanding contributions to our profession. The nomination period will remain open until the end of business on February 28, 2008 for all awards except the HIM Collaboration Award which had a deadline of August 1, 2008.

The Awards Committee has been very busy this year, creating several new and revised awards to recognize more members. We will be presenting awards at two distinct times during the year rather than just at the annual meeting to provide members with more chances to attend and see award winners presented with their award.

The awards categories are:

The Distinguished Member Award is MaHIMA's highest award of honor and recognizes a member for their long, exceptional history of contributions to MaHIMA. This person must be an active member of MaHIMA for a minimum of ten years. (Presented at Annual Meeting).  Click here for criteria.

The Professional Achievement Award is given in memory of Dorothy (Dot) Grandolfi-Wagg and honors those who have worked tirelessly to support the HIM profession. (Presented at Dot Wagg Memorial Seminar in April).  Click here for criteria.

The Outstanding New Professional Award is given in memory of Deborah Heinbuck and recognizes and encourages the best of the fresh new talent in HIT and HIM. (Presented at Annual Meeting). Click here for criteria.

The HIM Collaboration Award recognizes outstanding effort by a department or team in meeting the challenges of the changing HIM environment. (Presented at the Fall Meeting). Click here for criteria.

The Legislator of the Year demonstrates consistent leadership on legislative initiatives that advance and support MaHIMA and the HIM profession. Representation of Massachusetts at either the state or federal level is required. (Presented at Dot Wagg Memorial Seminar in April).  Click here for criteria.

Retiree Recognition: We also wish to recognize members who will be retiring from the profession during the association year 2007-2008. Student Achievement Awards are determined by the Program Directors at each of the accredited HIT schools in Massachusetts and recognize students for their academic achievements, leadership, high ethical and moral values. (Presented at Annual Meeting) Click here for criteria.
