HIM Collaboration Award: (Presented at the Fall Meeting) (deadline for submissions:  August 1st)

Award Description: The HIM Collaboration Award recognizes outstanding effort by a department or team in meeting the challenges of the changing HIM environment. A secondary goal is to capture the best practices and “good ideas” of our MaHIMA members and share them.

Any significant innovation or effort by an HIM group or department is eligible:

  Examples of award-worthy efforts include:

• Successful systems improvement, upgrade or change
• Implementation of new initiatives, e.g. EMR, Physician order entry, web-based transcription, voice recognition, privacy and confidentiality
• Staff education and professional development including mentoring
• Education of others on HIM topics
• Department or facility reorganization, merger or relocation

Guidelines: Nominees must submit the following:

• describe the challenge being addressed
• describe the steps taken, provide illustrative materials as appropriate
• describe the outcomes
• provide a complete list of department or team members

Winners will be showcased in e-Channel.
